In the 50's -70's Truxtun was a proud middle class community full of pride.a and community unity.
Most of the men worked in the shipyard and the women were housewives raising the children building a strong foundation of family values.Truxtun had it's share of professionals too.
Doctors, Lawyers,Teacher, Preachers, Principals,Nurses,Football Coaches,Business Owners, Real Estates Brokers and others.

Getting your hair cut at Mr.Newbys barber shop and listening to his tall tales.
Sneaking out of church and going to Miss B's store for fries dripping in ketchup and vinegar.How about her fried crabs and 6 cents grape drinks..don't forget the snowballs.
Playing on the hills behind Truxtun School or walking the pipe on Peanock St.
going to the night games at truxtun School and watching Joe Bright knock one to the streets
Hiking to to Camp Moon Yard with Pack and Troop 88..singing it's the 88 boogie and John Jacob Jinglehiemier Smith.
Playing in the Turkey Bowl in front of Truxtun School.
Back yard parties, Sat Football in the field behind Gwin St. .
can't forget about hanging out at Johnson's Corner or Tanker..eating yock..or going to Highs for the 15cent Sherbet in the summer or thumping a ride to Sunset Lake.
